Donor & Family Recognition Program

The gift of eye donation helps doctors and researchers preserve, enhance, or restore vision.

On Sunday, April 18, 2010, the Minnesota Lions Eye Bank welcomed donor families, cornea recipients, physicians, researchers, Lions members, and other special guests to a Donor and Family Recognition Program at St. Thomas University in Saint Paul.

Annually, more than 1,000 Minnesotans give the gift of sight by becoming eye or cornea donors. Each of these donors has a family who supports eye donation and assists the eye bank to make donation happen. The recognition service honors donors and thanks donor families. Of special honor at this service were donors from June 2008 through May 2009.

The recognition program includes talks by a donor family member, a cornea recipient, and an ophthalmology researcher scientist; music; readings; and a donor Memorial Slide Show.

Donor and Family Recognition Programs are made possible by grants from the Minnesota Lions Eye Bank, Inc., and private donations from Lions and friends of the eye bank. Two services are held each year, in the spring and in the fall. For information about the next recognition service, contact:
