Lions All-Star Baseball Tournament 2011

Friday and Saturday, June 24 and 25
Chanhassen High School Baseball Stadium, Chanhassen, Minnesota

Chanhassen hosted the 37th annual Minnesota Lions All-Star Baseball Tournament on Friday, June 24, and Saturday, June 25. Eighty players and 12 coaches played a round-robin tournament that pitted this year's best 2011 Minnesota graduates, divided into teams representing northern Minnesota, southern Minnesota, the east metro area, and the west metro area.

Northern All-Star Matt Geislinger was named tournament MVP. During tournament play, Matt netted 2 home runs and a two-run double. He also pitched 2 scoreless innings for his team. Matt just graduated form Eden Valley-Watkins High School, and has plans to attend Garden City Community College in Kansas.

Co-sponsored by the Minnesota Lions Eye Bank and the Minnesota High School Baseball Coaches Association, all tournament proceeds benefit the Lions Children's Eye Clinic at the University of Minnesota. The clinic's pediatric ophthalmologists see more than four thousand children each year and are dedicated to giving every child a lifetime of sight. In the 37-year history of the tournament, more than $350,000 has been raised for the clinic.
